This image was used for the New Mexico Conference on Aging. No more posters are left, so there is now this charming print.
To depict the elderly in New Mexico, I chose an image of a grandma and her little granddaughter, both taking careful steps across the plaza of their pueblo. Who is helping who? Both represent their own eras and ages, yet together they blend into a timeless bond, each necessary to the other. No particular pueblo or tribe is depicted here: This scene could be seen in any one of New Mexico's many pueblos. Grandma is dressed in a more traditional style, wearing her bandana and moccasins. Granddaughter is a thoroughly modern young lady, wearing shorts and her best "tennies". We know that one of Grandma's treasures is the little girl. The other is her life-long treasure, waiting in the doorway.
Bright New Mexico desert colors of golds and oranges, contrasted by rich purples and shades of turquoise blue. "Grandma's Treasures" goes well with "Golden Years", or "Walking With Grandma", other Conference on Aging images.
This matted "8 x 10" artist-made, digital print arrives in an 11" x 14" white beveled mat, ready to be dropped into your own 11" x 14" frame.
